Kicking off the Sandwich Fair Fiddle Contest on
Wednesday, September 9th at 5:30pm on the AgLand Stage, will be dynamic
bluegrass band, Ashley Lewis and Ashton Gap. Ashley enthralls audiences
with her fiery, driving mandolin, fiddle and impassioned vocals.
Recognized by the Illinois Arts Council as an accomplished musician who
is preserving the heritage and art of bluegrass mandolin, Ashley’s music
is commented upon by Female Vocalist of the Year, Dale Ann Bradley, “I
sat there with a smile on my face the whole time. You are a natural! You
have the beauty in your heart and it comes through in your music.”

Immediately following the Ashton Gap performance,
will be the fiddle contest at 6:00pm. All ages are welcome to enter with
three separate age divisions, which include children through adult. The
purse for the contest totals over $800.00, and the entry fee is free
with the purchase of a fair ticket. The contest is considered to be
traditional fiddle music as opposed to classical, jazz, pop or rock.
Traditional styles include Irish, French, Cajun, other National/Ethnic
styles, Country, and Bluegrass.
Whether you are a seasoned fiddler, a novice, or an appreciative
audience member, this is a great opportunity to participate or enjoy
some very impressive fiddling in the shady, country atmosphere of the
122nd Sandwich Fair.

RoundHouse plays the best in Americana Music,
including Old School and New, Country, Rhythm & Blues and American
Roots. RoundHouse covers of artists such as Keith Urban, John Mayer,
AudioSlave and Paula Cole, as well as Merle Haggard, Alan Jackson, Ray
Charles, Emmylou Harris, the Eagles and many more favorites. RoundHouse
features lush harmony and strong instrumental support.
RoundHouse has the honor of working with WGN’s Orion Samuelson and Max
Armstrong at many of their events, including the annual Farm Progress
Show.
RoundHouse connects with their audience by evoking old memories and
creating new ones.

The magic of the groove and the movement of the song

Illinois. This is the band’s second appearance at the Sandwich Fair.

Coco & the Nuts

“Coco & the
Nuts” is a fun-time roots, rock and rhythms band based out of the
Sandwich area. The band brings energy and fun to the stage playing a mix
of reggae, pop, funk, rock & roll, and zydeco songs. Bass guitarist Mark
“Coco” Demian ensures the audience gets to participate in the show with
limbo contests and conga lines while “Negril” Bill Mayer’s keyboard work
lays a solid foundation for the band which features “Kingston” Mike
Colles’s vocals and dazzling guitar work.
Combining solid musicianship with a sense of humor, Coco & the Nuts have
played numerous shows at clubs, marinas and private events throughout
the Illinois River Valley, the Fox Valley and as far north as the Chain
of Lakes.
Formed in early 2007, the members of Coco & the Nuts are all seasoned
veterans of numerous Fox Valley and Chicago are bands. Coco & the Nuts
is: “Coco” Mark Demian from Serena on bass guitar and vocals; “Kingston”
Mike Colle from Sandwich on guitar and vocals, and; “Negril” Bill Mayer

Band of Brothers

Band of Brothers is a classic rock band composed of
brothers Ron and Doug Hoyle, and John and Dan Blum. Each member is a
veteran musician who has played with various bands in northern Illinois,
southern Wisconsin and eastern Iowa area for many years.
The pair of brothers teamed up and formed Band of
Brothers nearly four years ago and have been kept busy playing clubs,
parties and festivals in Dixon, Sterling Rock Falls, DeKalb and many
other small towns around the area.
If you enjoy the music of he sixties, seventies and
eighties, plus a good mixture of blues and newer tunes, be sure to catch
them performing at a club near you.
